Gosford High School Reunion

We have had a number of re-unions around the magic milestone of 50 years following our years in Gosford High School. Late enough that it is a significant milestone and early enough so we can all (mostly) remember.

Star City Lunch 5th October 2005

This event organised by Ros Mort Anne Judd and Ian Littlemore was held at Star City in Prymont Sydney. It was great to catch up with folks after so many years. You can see some photos from the day here.

Reunion 50 Years on from Starting High School in 1956

On the weekend of 4th and 5th November 2006 we held a 50 year reunion (50 years since we started at Gosford High School in 1956). This comprised a dinner on Saturday 4th November and a BBQ lunch on Sunday at the Gosford Golf Club. We also enjoyed a tour of the High School conducted by Acting Principal Paul Campbell.

Many thanks to Nick Couper and the great team at the Golf Club for the food and arrangements and to Paul Campbell for giving up a swag of his Sunday and enthusiastically conducting the much appreciated tour. Thanks also to Barbara Smith and her helpers for creating and setting up the decorations.

93 ex students and their partners attended the dinner. 70 people enjoyed the school tour and the BBQ. Students came from as far afield as Canada and the UK and from around Australia as well as locally to attend. A great time was had by all.

We distributed a booklet at the event with school history and photos as well as 66 student profiles. A copy will be mailed to people who submitted a profile but could not make it to the reunion.

50 Years on from Leaving Certificate in 1960

The class of 1956-1960 held a very successful reunion luncheon on Saturday November 6th 2010 to celebrate 50 years from the Leaving Certificate and 52 years from the Intermediate Certificate. Iggy’s Waterfont Restaurant was a very fitting venue, tastefully decorated and such a lovely position right on the water.

In all there were 56 in attendance on the day which was a pretty good effort for a luncheon! Some travelled from interstate  W.A John Rogers, VIC. Richard Hely, A.C.T. Hugh Veness, Mina Bannerman (Langford), John Green and QLD. Russ (Rusty) King, David Niland. Future Events

We plan to run some more regular but lower key events in the future so stay tuned for developments. Also there is interest in running some small get togethers for folks resident outside Sydney and the Central Coast. Now the London division is a bit thin but Helen Pedder suggested Brisbane as well Canberra is a prospect. Let us know if you want web site coverage of any events. Of course we would be pleased to add a story and photos of any events – anywhere.

Locating  1956 – 60 GHS Students

We are still interested to locate as many from our year group who were at Gosford High School for the 1958 Intermediate Certificate in 1958 and/or the Leaving Certificate in 1960 (seems like just yesterday!). Other lists and photos on this site may be a useful prompt for our memories.
